TOURNAMENT SPOTLIGHT:


* The second weekend of DRF/NTRA qualifying action at Fairplex Park saw Tom Noone, Pete Sluis & Bart Fooden all stamp their ticket to Las Vegas on Friday, September 12th, while Dan Brockman qualified for his first DRF/NTRA NHC experience (and pocketed $10,250 in prize money) by winning the two-day weekend tournament that concluded on September 14th by putting up a point total of 1,850 points. Finishing in second place was Tosca Bertolucci with 1,834 points, while third place was captured by Brad Blackmore with 1,820 points. Both Mrs. Bertolucci & Mr. Blackmore will be joining Dan at the NHC. This weekend (September 20-21) is your last opportunity to qualify at Fairplex. * Sheri Scholz is the winner of the first (of three) weekend DRF/NTRA NHC qualifying tournaments held at Fairplex Park. Mrs. Scholz amassed 1,329 points. Finishing in second place was Ruben Fernandez with 1,321 points, followed in third by Ed Carducci with 1,300 points. All 3 earned berths to the NHC.

* Five handicappers booked their tickets to Las Vegas, Nevada at Arlington Park on September 6th in the DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Contest Qualifier. Mark Everhart from Federal Way, WA took the top spot and the $14,000 first place price with an ending bankroll of $125.20. In second place was Joe Scanio of Brooklyn, NY, with a $108.20 balance to take home $7,500. Scanio had previously qualified for the the NTRA Championship, and thus his Las Vegas berth was awarded to sixth place finisher Marc Josefowicz of Cary, IL. Rounding out the top six were Mayer Kanter of Sioux City, IA ($107.60), Kevin Kerns of Westchester, IL ($99.80), and Robert Gary of Arlington Heights, IL ($99.40).
